About this policy

This policy explains what information Reliable Plumbing collects when you visit reliableplumbingslc.com, contact us, or hire us, and what we do with it. It covers this website and the phone number and messaging we use for service.

We're a small, family-owned plumbing company in Salt Lake City, not a data business. The information we hold exists so we can call you back, find your house, and do the job. Everything below is a description of that, written out properly.

Using this site or contacting us means you accept this policy. See also our terms of service.

Information you give us

You give us information directly when you fill in the contact form, call us, text us, or talk to us at your home. That typically includes:

• Your name, so we know who we're talking to
• Your phone number, which is how we get back to you
• Your email address, where you provide one
• Your address or neighborhood, so we know where the work is and whether it's in our area
• What you've told us about the problem, including anything you write in the message field
• Photos you send us of a fixture, a leak, or an appliance
• Records of the work, including what we found, what we did, and what it cost

You decide how much of this to share. The less you give us, the harder it is to help, but nothing here is collected without you handing it over.

Information collected automatically

Like almost every website, this one collects some technical information automatically when you visit. That generally includes your IP address, browser type and version, device type and screen size, operating system, the pages you viewed and how long you spent, the site or search that brought you here, and the approximate location derived from your IP address, usually at city level.

We use this in aggregate to understand which pages are useful, where visitors come from, and whether the site works properly on the devices people actually use. We don't use it to build a profile of you as an individual.

Cookies and similar technologies

This site uses cookies and similar technologies, some set by us and some by the third parties listed in the next section. They fall into a few categories:

• Necessary: keep the site working, hold form state, and support spam prevention on the contact form
• Analytics: count visits and page views so we can see what's useful
• Advertising measurement: tell us whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to call or submit the form

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and most browsers let you do this per site. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies won't stop the site working. Blocking all cookies may affect the contact form.

Rather than describing this vaguely, here is what actually runs on reliableplumbingslc.com and what each one does. Each of these operates under its own privacy policy.

This list is maintained to match what genuinely loads on the site. If we add or remove a service, this section is updated with it.

Phone calls and text messages

Call tracking

Our Google Ads setup uses call tracking, which means the phone number displayed on the site may be substituted with a forwarding number for some visitors, particularly those arriving from an ad. Calls to that number connect straight through to us, and the system records that a call happened, its duration, and which visit it came from. This tells us which advertising is working. We don't use it to record the content of what's said.

Text messages

When you give us your number, you agree we may contact you at it about your request and the work, by call or SMS. We use texting for appointment confirmations, letting you know we're on the way, and receiving photos of a problem. We do not send marketing texts. Carrier message and data rates may apply.

Reply STOP at any time to opt out of texts, or just tell us on the phone. Opting out of texts doesn't stop us calling you about work in progress.

Photos you send

Photos sent by text are used to diagnose and price your job, and stored with your service record. We won't publish them anywhere without asking you first.

How we use your information

We use what we collect to:

• Respond to your enquiry and schedule a visit
• Understand the problem well enough to bring the right parts
• Prepare estimates and invoices, and take payment
• Carry out the work and follow up afterward
• Keep service records, so that if you call us again in three years we know what we did last time
• Order parts and arrange permits or inspections where a job needs them
• Understand which pages and which advertising bring us work
• Meet our legal, tax, licensing, and insurance obligations

We don't use your information to build advertising profiles, and we don't add you to a mailing list because you called us about a leak.

How we share information

We share information only where there's a reason to:

• Service providers who help us operate, including our hosting, form, analytics, and payment providers, limited to what they need to do their job
• Suppliers and manufacturers, where a warranty claim or a special-order part requires it
• Local authorities, where a permit or inspection requires your address and job details
• Our insurer or professional advisers, if a claim or dispute arises
• Law enforcement or regulators, where we're legally required to
• A successor business, if the company were ever sold or transferred

If you were referred to us by a property manager, contractor, or home warranty company, we may confirm the work and its cost with them, since they're generally the party being billed.

We don't sell your information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We don't share it with lead-generation companies, other contractors, or marketing lists. If you gave us your number because your water heater failed, that number does not go anywhere else.

How long we keep it

Service records, invoices, and job history are kept as long as we need them for business, tax, warranty, and insurance purposes. Utah and federal record-keeping requirements set the floor on some of that. Keeping a job history is also practical, because knowing what we replaced at your address five years ago genuinely helps when you call again.

Enquiries that never turn into work are kept for a shorter period and then cleared. Analytics data is retained according to the settings of the services in Section 05.

Security

The site runs over an encrypted HTTPS connection, and we use reputable providers for hosting, forms, and payment. Access to customer records is limited to the people who need it to do the work.

No system is perfectly secure, and we won't claim otherwise. If a breach ever affected your information, we'd tell you promptly and tell you what to do about it.

Your choices and rights

State privacy laws, including Utah's, apply to businesses above certain revenue and data-volume thresholds, and a company of our size generally sits below them. We'll honor the following requests regardless of whether a law obliges us to:

• Ask what we hold about you, and we'll tell you
• Correct anything that's wrong
• Ask us to delete it, which we'll do except where we're legally required to keep records of completed work
• Opt out of text messages by replying STOP or telling us
• Ask not to be contacted about anything other than a job in progress

You can also opt out of Google's advertising personalization directly through Google's own ad settings, and control cookies through your browser.

Children's privacy

This site is meant for adults arranging plumbing work, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has given us their information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We'll update this page when our practices or the services we use change. The date at the top shows the last revision. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect wherever we're able to do that.
